Charleston’s 5-day FestivFALL ready to start

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — The five-day FestivFALL event in Charleston begins Tuesday evening with FestivFALL Eve.

FestivALL Executive Director Zack Harold said they’ve celebrating FestivFALL for 15 years.

He said the Drum Circle kicks things off Tuesday evening at 7:00 the garden at Charleston Frist Presbyterian Church.

“They are a welcoming group. You don’t even need a drum, they’ll bring one for you,” Harold said. “You just sit around and jam for a couple of hours.”

The highlight of FestivFALL Eve is two sold-out shows featuring singer, Hollywood actress, Charleston native, and West Virginia Music Hall of Fame inductee Ann Magnuson.

The five-day schedule kicks in Wednesday. Harold said the inaugural FestivFALL Popcorn Social happens Thursday night.

“It’s with our friends at the West Virginia International Film Festival…it’s a free screening of ‘Practical Magic’ at the Goldenrod Kitchen over there on the West Side. We’re going to have some vendors and we’re going to have some live music and we’re going to watch the movie,” Harold said.

The featured event of FestivFALL is the two-day Harvest Art Fair at Capitol Market Saturday and Sunday.

“We have 30 vendors who will be over there selling their stuff. You can take care of some early holiday shopping. We’ll have two full days of free live music with some great regional and local acts,” Harold said.

He’s also looking forward to the Dance Bus Saturday beginning at 4 p.m. that will include stops at city art locations.

“At each stop the dancers file off and will perform improvised pieces inspired by the art and then back on the bus and end at City Center Slack Plaza for the John Inghram’s City Center Dead tribute to the Grateful Dead,” Harold said.
