RAINELLE, W.V. — Firefighters spent several hours battling a house fire on 8th Street early Saturday, then returned to the home twice after the fire rekindled.
The Rainelle Fire Department said crews were dispatched around 5:05 a.m. Sept. 26. The occupants were already outside when firefighters arrived.
Crews worked to extinguish the fire until about noon. The department later received two more calls reporting that it had rekindled, and firefighters returned to put out hot spots.
Officials ask anyone who sees additional smoke or flames coming from the residence to call 911.
Greenbrier County Homeland Security and Emergency Management, fire departments from Quinwood, Rupert, Meadow Bridge and Danese, White Sulphur Springs EMS, Appalachian Power and the American Red Cross assisted with the response.
